Hook Rug
Rug turned out really nice. I am very happy with it.

Wish it was thicker, but fun to make. Not easy to get thicker rugs at a good price.

I'll start by saying that I don't complete latch hook projects the way you're "supposed to". I use them as actual rugs, so I want them to be thicker. To accomplish this, I double up, putting yarn into both the horizontals and the verticals. THE BIG POSITIVE: Herrschner's has matching yarn available right on their website. I would have saved myself money if I had counted every last square on the chart, and calculated exactly how much more of each color I needed. Instead, I gave up after counting three colors, and just ordered double of everything. I ended up with way too much of some colors, and way too little Spring Green. But that's on me. THE SLIGHT NEGATIVE: This was the first kit I tried without the pattern printed on the canvas. I knew that ahead of time, and chose to give it a shot. It was definitely an extra challenge, especially for the interpolated "in-between" rows. I did come up with a system that worked; but it was definitely slower. THE END RESULT: The rug is beautiful! It's thick and plush, and I'm excited to give it to my brother's family, to use on their new wood floors.
