Also called the “sparrow hawk,” American kestrels are unique in that they are the only North American falcon or hawk to nest in tree cavities and woodpecker holes, as well as in the crevices of buildings, holes in banks, and nest boxes. Reminiscent of an antique print, this American kestrel by Sharon Pope is cross-stitched on tea-dyed linen.
